Booting into Windows XP prevented by missing or corrupt file
I tried the hard drive tweek to disable xp from autodetecting, and that didn't work. Also went through the bios and disabled any extranious devices like Lan, usb, etc. I also went into safemode, same thing... Im not getting anywhere with this one. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Then, should disaster strike and I would need to re-install my system, I could simply delete the original system partition, render it unallocated into unallocated space and then copy the backup system partition back to it to restore things. I tried booting it into win2k but whenever the system starts it goes into a loop of rebooting itself. I tried installing windows xp to see if there was any change but I have the same problem. Any ideas? Fresh install onto a formatted HDD or an 'upgrade' install? Fresh format and everything.

Booting into Windows XP Pro
Dudes, When XP boots, I get the welcome screen, and then the PC sits there for about 2 mins.. no disk activity etc and eventually.. it gets into the desktop.. and then crawls for another 30 secs.. then resmes as normal. When I disconnect the ADSL modem and USB network adaptor, the problem goes away.

I never indicated during installation anything about the professional version. It will wait 30 sec and boot into the one highlighted (Home) but it is just an unnecessary task I have to wait around for instead of doing something else.
