My computer running XP has gone into perpetual reboot !
I have win2000 and win XP home edition on a computer I'm trying to fix. XP will not boot up. I cannot boot into any of the safe modes (with/without prompts/networking) The "system restore to last good configuration" option doesn't work either I try to solve the problem by booting up with the win XP CD in the CD

If i just let the system boot untouched, it just goes straight into XP. In most cases Windows 2000/XP will hardly bat an John: What does the disk signature have to do with the MBR? IIRC, the MBR is a sector that contains executable code, the partition table, and ends with 55 AA. And, each partition has a "partition boot sector". Have you tested booting into Vista via a Win 98 MBR?
